ASK ALTO

The thinking behind The Alternative, applied to your life.

Your gut says there is another option. You just do not know what it is yet.

Tell Alto what is happening. It will ask one question at a time, notice the choices you keep returning to and help you find what else might be possible.

It will not tell you what to do.

What are you trying to work out?

Or ignore these and start in your own words.

Free to use. Start without an account. Create one if you want to save what comes back.

Hi, I’m Alto. What would you like to talk through?

Press and hold to talk, loading

When the people around you already know the story.

Your friend has heard it before.

Your partner is living with the consequences.

Your therapist may not have a slot when the thought arrives.

Alto has no side to take. It does not know the people involved. It only knows what you choose to tell it.

ASK ALTO
  1. 1

    Tell Alto

Write it as you would say it to someone you trust, or press and hold to speak.

  2. 2

    Stay with it

Alto asks one question at a time. No lectures. No long assessment. No list of questions.

  3. 3

See what else might be possible

Alto gives the situation back to you, including what you may be avoiding and the alternative you have not considered.

A conversation, as it happens

What do you keep saying about this job?

That I should have left two years ago. I say it most weeks and then I do nothing.

What happens in the week between saying it and doing nothing?

I get through it. Then Sunday comes and it starts again.

You are treating staying and leaving as the only two choices. Are they?

What Alto is not

Alto is not therapy, crisis support or professional advice.

It will not diagnose you, decide for you or pretend that every situation needs changing.

Sometimes the alternative is to leave.

Sometimes it is to stay differently.

Sometimes it is to wait, protect what is already good or decide that nothing needs changing.

What happens to what you say

Alto reads what you write in order to answer it. Nothing is saved by itself.

Without an account, the conversation is held only for as long as your visit lasts. When that ends it is removed and cannot be recovered.

Signed in, you can choose to keep what Alto gives back. Only what you choose is kept, in your own private account.

My Tree receives only what you confirm. My Journal receives only what you save. Anything Alto noticed along the way stays with the conversation and goes when it goes.

What you write is never sent to Google, Meta, any advertising system or any mailing list. Those are told only that a conversation started or finished, never the subject and never a word of it.
